Danny Phantom Re-Designs pt. 1

The first part of a multi-part series of character design for the show 'Danny Phantom'. From the original post,

"So KND might be coming back. You know what other mid-2000's cartoon needs to come back? Of course you do, it's right there in the title. 

Danny Phantom was a strange little show. Despite it's surprisingly dark premise, it was light-hearted and fun and goofy. In fact, it was sometimes toogoofy. DP could've benefitted from a slightly more serious tone, maybe closer to Teen Titans or Gravity Falls. It also could've done with more coherence, as it had an over-arching plot, but only occasionally dove into it. 

Another minor flaw was the art style. Don't get me wrong, I do like Butch Hartman's angular, retro art, but as an action show, DP needed something more fluid. I tried to go more fluid here, adapting the new cartoony style I've been exploring with my OCs. I think it works; it can get nice an elastic for humor and action, but also works when the tone veers more dark. 

I've seen other phans drawing their own redesigns, and saying similar things about tone and plotting. It's obviously the demand's here, and it would be great to see Danny at it again. I may make a tumblr post outlining my own ideas for a possible reboot. Who knows, I may try coming up with a small pitch of my own. I'll definitely do more redesigns; I want to draw Jazz and Danny's parents, Valerie, Paulina, Dash, Vlad, maybe some other antagonists. I also want to retool Sam a bit more. She's mostly there, I just want to play around with her face and hair a little."
